Subject: BTEC Performing Arts

Subject: Level 3 BTEC in Performing Arts (Certificate)

The BTEC Level 3 in Performing Arts offers an engaging programme for those who are clear about the area of employment that they wish to enter. It has the main purpose of helping people to become occupationally ready to take up employment in the performing arts sector. It consists of one mandatory unit plus a wide variety of optional units which include choices in music, drama, dance and a combination. We would aim therefore, to appeal to students who have talents which cover more than one area of the arts. The course can be tailor made to meet the needs of the students who opt to do the course.

Skills Attained:

By studying a BTEC, learners develop knowledge, understanding and skills required by the sector, including essential employability skills, and apply them in real work contexts. Learners can operate at a standard that can reasonably be expected of an 18 year old in full-time education. BTECs provide a more practical, real-world approach to learning alongside a theoretical background, giving learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare for employment.

Future Opportunities:

The Performing Arts are a major part of the creative and cultural industries in the UK. It is the second largest sector after Design. Overall, the industry contributes £3.5 billion to the UK economy.
