The geography department is delighted to offer a 5 day GCSE/A level study trip to Iceland to experience the impact that plate tectonics has on this unique country. This will provide a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit the “Land of Fire and Ice”; a country where two of the earth’s tectonic plates meet. To see active volcanoes; observe active geysers with areas of steam vents, hot springs and beautiful turquoise blues; visit Þingvellir National Park, a World Heritage site; take a ferry to the island of Heimaey with its active volcano and museum. The tour will be organised with Rayburn Travel which is fully bonded with ABTA. They have worked with many schools and youth groups, and have a wealth of experience organising school parties. Students will have focussed activities and will be provided with handbooks containing a range of geographical resources and information.
