Our year 11 GCSE students presented us with 'An Evening of Shakespeare'. It was an evening of talent, enthusiasm, dedication and imaginative theatre.
First Mrs Vollers GCSE Drama girls group performed 'The Taming of the Shrew' still keeping in the time period of Shakespearian language they presented a modern adaptation where they dated in Nandos, attended a school prom and listened to up beat classics. It was fun, enthusiastic and very creative.
The secondperformance of the evening was Macbeth performed by the Year 11 GCSE Drama boys group directed by Mrs Taylor and Miss Culliney. This abstract adaptation of Macbeth was dark, grotesque and set in side a mentalasylum.
Our third and final group of theevening was another Year 11 GCSE Drama girls group, they performed 'A Midsummer Night's Dream,' directed by Miss Culliney. The piece was magical, atmospheric and very stylised and physical with a sprinkle of glitter all over the performance.
The whole evening was a huge success and the drama department are incredibly proud of all three GCSE Drama groups for producing such high quality Shakespearian performances. Numerous students received an A* for truly stunning and captivating
performances. Well done to all.
