Former Pupil Meets The Pope

Alan Wasowski

Former pupil of St Bede's, Alan Wasowski meets the Pope Francis.

Alan was born in Poland and came to our school – he was active in all parts of the religious life of the schooland served on the Altar both in school and in his parish. Alan was very active in the Polish Parish of Our Lady of Czestochowa, here in Bradford.

During each summer, Alan used to go back to Poland to take part in the 300 mile pilgrimage to Krakov. He took part in the Lourdes Pilgrimage with the Diocese of Leeds whilst in Y12 and again he worked as an adult Carer when he left Y13.

While in St Benedict’s Sixth Form, Alan decided to apply to train to be a priest for the Diocese of Leeds. Alan spent his first year at Seminary (priests training college) at the Royal English College in Valladolid in Spain before moving to the Venerable English College in Rome where he is now based.

Whilst a seminarian at the ‘English College’, Alan will occasionally visit the Vatican for major feast days. It was on the Feast of the Chair of St Peter the Apostle that Alan is pictured shaking hands with Pope Francis
