The trip to Auschwitz was one of the most eye opening experiences of our lives. Not only did we gain further knowledge about the horrors of the Nazi Holocaust and what happened in the camps at Auschwitz and Birkenau, but we also learnt about the lives of the Jewish people of Europe. Before these innocent victims of the Nazi genocide were robbed of their identities and ultimately lives, they were normal people who had dreams and aspirations - just like you and I.
We feel that if the opportunity ever comes up for you to visit Auschwitz and Birkenau you should definitely take it, so you can also be a witness to the outrageous crimes that were committed by a modern nation, as we were. Our generation must remember that the millions of lives that were ended too soon were not just a number or a statistic but actual people who were loved and who loved.
