U13 Girls English Schools Water Polo Championships played in Manchester.
U13 Water Polo Team
SBSJ 1 – 10 Crompton House
SBSJ 5 – 9 Manchester High School
This was the first time most of our girls have played a competitive match with the majority of our team been made up of year 7’s and even for most of the year 8 girls it was only the second time they have played against another school with fixtures difficult to obtain with the lack of local teams.
The girls took a lot away from this experience and understand the areas they need to improve on and there were plenty of positives that the girls should be proud of. As both games progressed you could see the girls growing into the game and challenging the opposition in particular the match against Manchester H.S. The one thing that no one could fault was the effort and team spirit the girls showed, something all the coaches/referees commented on after the tournament.
Well done to the girls! Its onwards and upwards from here!

Year 7 Girls Football Team
Year 7 girls travelled to Belle Vue to compete in the first round of our football tournament. I am very pleased to inform every one of the amazing result the girls achieved.
Game 1 SBSJ 4 – Belle Vue 0
The girls were not going in very upbeat due to the heavy support from the home crowd (compared to myself and the SJK bus driver) however after the 1st goal by Makayla Davis - set up by Naomi Soda – the girls worked as a team and the strong partnership between both MD & NS saw them score 3 more before full time. The girls showed great sportsmanship congratulating Belle Vue on keeping their heads up and fighting until the last second of the game.
Game 2 SBSJ 2 – Buttershaw 0
Buttershaw started strong and put the pressure on SBSJ from the outset and through- out. With a few near misses and I think, with a bit of luck the girls managed to fight off the opposing side until a cross from Makayla to Naomi resulted in a well-placed goal in the top right hand corner of the net in the second half. Finally in the last minute when Buttershaw were piling on the pressure to get an equaliser SBSJ girls managed to slip another one past their goal keeper.
Game 3 SBSJ 8 – Dixons 0
The score says it all! I would like to congratulate the girls on great teamwork and for showing a standard of sportsmanship you never see in professional football. As it stands we are the only team going into the next round with 3 out of 3 wins.
Makayla Davis 7H, Naomi Soda 7A, Alisha Ahmed 7A, Margaux Yee 7A, Hannah Maslen 7F, Ella Cana 7F, Wiktoria Klocek 7D.
