Visit to the Houses of Parliament

Year 9 London

Friday 29th April saw some of our year 9 pupils up for a very early start as we set off for London at 4.30am. On arrival in London our first stop was the Houses of Parliament for a tour. We got to see secret parts of parliament that you don't normally get to see (like the Queen's chambers). We got to stand in the house of lords and the house of commons near the benches you see on the television. After our tour we had a workshop on Debating skills and our students impressed the Parliament education team so much they think we might have the next prime minister in our midst!

After our morning in Parliament we went across the River to catch our boat down the Themes spotting all the historical landmarks and discovering about their historical significance.

Our last stop was to go on the London Eye and view our great city from above. We felt we really did go to new heights on this trip. We finally arrived back in Bradford around 10.00pm. It had been a long but enjoyable day for all.
