Sports Day 2016 went ahead at the second attempt, after being postponed earlier in the week due to bad weather. The weather was brilliant, allowing the students produce some fantastic displays of sporting prowess. Students took part in a range of activities, including dodgeball, water polo, cricket ball throw, as well as more traditional athletics events. The day was designed to be a maximum participation event, allowing all students the opportunity to take part and represent their form.
Many medals were won and awarded throughout the day, with a number of records being broken or set for the first time. The relay races were particularly exciting; a great demonstration of students working together in teams.
The final race of the day was the staff relay race. The noise in the crowd was deafening, and I am surprised that the staff could actually hear the start of the race. Ultra-competitive teachers in their sports kit is something that the students will remember for a long time!! Thanks to those staff for taking part.
The student champions from the winning forms came to collect the trophy before a short prayer to finish the day.
