Bradford Catholic Youth Choir, supported by St Bede's and St Joseph's, are performing alongside one of the world's finest choirs on January 29th. The concert is part of the Gabrielis' youth choir scheme, Gabrieli Roar, of which BCYC are one of only five choirs selected (and the only Northern group), a real credit to the hard work of the children involved. It's wonderful to see one of the top professional choirs coming to inner-city Bradford to work alongside the children from the area - a great vote of confidence in their ability and further inspiration too. The two choirs, with brass and organ, will be directed by the Gabrielis' conductor, Paul McCreesh.
The four choirs (two Junior Choirs, Boys' Choir and Girls' Choir) will be singing alongside the professional singers and have recently enjoyed two workshops at St Bede's and St Joseph's on the concert programme with choral animateur Charles MacDougall.
The choirs are continuing to provide outstanding vocal training and opportunities to pupils who join from the Schools Singing Programme, in addition of course to the formation and evangelisation that Bishop Marcus sees as a central value in the provision of this service. They rehearse weekly at both Ignis and Ardor and give regular concerts, radio and tv broadcasts and sing for masses and competitions.
