The end has arrived of another year 7 camp. The weather was kind too us with only a couple of days of wet weather and one particularly windy day. It has now become tradition for our new arrivals to get to know each other better by walking around Thruscross Reservoir trying to navigate their way around boggy terrain. Some trying to complete it in their trainers, others in their brand new white shoes and then you have the experts wearing their regatta walking boots, comfortable, blister free. Singing hymns at the Church in Pateley Bridge allows the retreat to be formalised with the children voices soaring with the finale of Community. A fitting way to depart the church and an official welcome for our students to the SBSJ community.
Hundreds of portions of fish and chips were consumed topped off with a visit to the local shop for a cheeky sweetie treat. The nights finished with a camp fire, songs, hot chocolate and a custard cream. Camp fires wouldn't be the same without Mr Bright's legendary version of 'Mr Abraham', a true classic which all the students take great joy in participating in.
Day 2 was a carousel of activities lead mainly by our sixth form students. Mountain Biking, Spiritual Activity, Archery and Den Building. These help develop team and confidence skills and also build character with some having achieved a real sense of achievement by learning to ride a bike for the first time. After a quick lunch, the group photo is taken and it's a mad dash back to school to make it for the school buses.
Camp over for another year and we hope that we have created memories that last a lifetime.
We have uploaded many photos to our school Facebook page for you to view.
