Solutions for the Planet.
This year four of our fantastic groups managed to reach the semi-finals of the Solutions for the Planet, alongside six other teams, which was held at the University of Leeds.
Despite some initial trepidation, each group eloquently and articulately explained their distinct projects, trying to convince the judges that their idea would be of greatest, feasible, benefit to the planet and humanity.
Each of the four teams were a credit to our school, particularly their incisive responses to the range of challenging questions posed by the judges. However the competition was fierce, with many imaginative entries from other local schools.
After a lengthy period of deliberation, the judges decided that two of our teams (The Distraction Plant and REPT) deserved special commendation for various aspects of their approach. Furthermore, they awarded first place to the ardent, impassioned performance and detailed proposal of another of our groups, UTime, who will now have the opportunity to pitch their idea in the national final.
