'Open days give students the chance to find out more about the challenges, opportunities and rewards of academic and social life at University. Our visit to The University of Manchester which is one of the Russell Group of top Universities in the country gave us a chance to explore the bustling campus and exciting city.
Our students learnt about subjects that they were interested in, meet current students and staff, toured the campus and facilities, and got a real feel for Manchester student life.'
140 students from Year 12 attended the West and North Yorkshire higher education exhibition at the Leeds Beckett University Campus. This is was a unique opportunity for our students to meet with most of the Universities from across the country as well as representatives from apprenticeship's, voluntary and the military sectors. This market place style event allowed students and staff to explore the wide range of opportunities available after school or college, all in one setting. University advisors and staff were on hand to answer questions and drop in seminars were available throughout the day to help increase our knowledge and skills when preparing for the next step. Our students came away with lots of prospectus and free stuff (The Leeds Beckett hoodies being the best!). Despite the wet and windy weather our students worked really hard and were able to discover information on a variety of options. So whether they are interested in applying to uni or looking at alternative options, there was something that appealed to everyone.
