At St Bede’s and St Joseph’s Catholic College, we aim to develop our students into well-rounded citizens: kind, generous and thoughtful contributors, as well as active, lively participants and future leaders. We aim to teach our students to excel in their academic studies, while at the same time, guiding them to make a contribution to the school community and to participate fully in the many co-curricular opportunities on offer. These three strands of school life – the academic, the spiritual community and the co-curricular – make up the Christus Lumen Gentium Awards, known as Ecclesia (the Church), Scholastica (the learner) and Olympia (the active participant). On Thursday 6th July we will be celebrating the effort, progress and success of our Year 9 students in all three aspects at the Christus Lumen Gentium Awards Evening.
We are very proud of what our Year 9s have accomplished during the year, and all students will receive the Christus Lumen Gentium Graduation Certificate in recognition of their effort and hard work. As well as these certificates, we will be awarding medals and trophies to those students who have excelled in one of the three areas of school life. In total, there are over 150 special awards which are listed on the enclosed leaflet, with the criteria for awarding each one explained alongside. The schedule for the evening includes a showcase of some of our very best student talent to entertain the audience as well. All students are expected to attend this celebration and each will be presented individually with their Graduation Certificate and their special award, if they have won them.
