Tuesday 12th September, 6.15 pm
We are delighted to be able to share with you that from September we will be the Progress Leaders for your child’s cohort and we are very much looking forward to building upon the foundations set in the first year of Key Stage three and to consolidate their learning and prepare for year 9 where they will take KS4 options.
Consolidation is a theme that will permeate much of what we seek to do in Year 8. We have some very important work to carry out this year to begin to embed independent study practices and the continuation and extension of the Christus Lumen Gentium diploma. We recognise that your involvement in your child’s educational life is of paramount importance for their success and we hope to be able to work collaboratively with you to realise the highest spiritual, social, and academic outcomes for your child.
Although you may have older children who have already passed through Year 8, there is a lot of new information to share ranging from the diploma, how the data reports work and when you’ll receive them, co-curricular opportunities for your child and how we will support them to access these. We really see this as a two year process and we want to give you an overview of Year 8 as well as looking forward to what you can expect in Year 9.
At St Bede’s and St Joseph’s Catholic College we believe that homework is a vital tool in ensuring students make excellent progress and develop a love of learning. This year we will be introducing a new homework policy that has been designed to allow students to both consolidate and extend their learning. This new policy will ensure appropriate amounts of regular homework are set and that the homework ignites a passion for learning whilst allowing our students to Shine in all of their subjects. As a result of this, it is vital that parents are aware of these changes and are aware of how they can support their child with the completion of homework.
I would like therefore to invite you to an Achievement Information Evening where all the afore mentioned topics are covered so that you and your child can feel fully informed about how, together, we can make next year a success. This will take place on Tuesday 12th September at 6.15pm.
We will provide you with key dates and information about events throughout the year and we will also be providing the transition data report for your child on the same evening. Please let us know that you will be attending by returning the slip attached to your child’s form tutor.
