SBSJ 4 - 0 Manchester High School
Player of the Tournament - Sienna Harrop
This victory means our U13 girls are the top team in the North this year and progress to the English Schools National Final which is in 2 weeks time.
The team were absolutely brilliant in executing our game plan as the score line suggests. In defence they pressed really well as a team and were well organised by Captain Alexandra Rowe who was in goal. Her experience of playing in the U15 and U18 girls team this year really helped settle the team and gave us the confidence needed to be brave in attacking the opposition. Estelle George, Chloe Rai and Molly Sladen were outstanding in defence and were always an option in the centre to start our attacks. Abigail Rowe and Amelia Brooksbank provided the width and were key in the final third where Sienna Harrop absolutely dominated the centre forward position scoring all 4 goals! A real team performance!
After the English Schools match we then carried on playing for an extra 45 minutes! This was to give all the team members a chance to experience playing in a full size pool. A massive well done to all our year 7 players in Holly Smith, Jessica Fullerton, Ava Chambers, Gabrielle Parker, Julia Szadkowska, Lilly Pryce, Amber Parrington as well as Jessica Whitaker in year 8. The experience they gained will be key for our future success, something I am very confident in! Also a big thank you and well done to Sara Steinberg who is key figure within our Water Polo fraternity. As I had to do most of the refereeing, Sara stepped in to coach the team and did very well to help guide the team from the side line.
The future looks bright for Girls Water Polo here at SBSJ!
Well done to all involved, your hard work has paid off!
