Winning Book

This Monday, the Year 8 Book Club celebrated the Carnegie Children’s Book Awards by live-streaming the awards ceremony and eating (lots) of delicious food! For the past few months, the book club has been working hard ‘Shadowing’ the judging process- we’ve read the shortlisted books, written reviews, and voted for our favourites! This year, our group was torn between two books as the SBSJ favourites: After the Fire by Will Hill and The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. There was a complete upset when we heard the judges choice (the book we all voted as our LEAST favourite!), Where the World Ends by Geraldine Mccaughrean. Alas, all is fair in love and war! We look forward to reading our next book club pick: Fahrenheit 451.  Thank you to everyone who participated, and a special shout out goes to Thomas Fiddler for reading all of the shortlisted books, and to Mrs. Crowther our wonderful librarian for hosting our live-stream!
