Subject Intent
The SBSJ English curriculum intends to engage students with a range of poetry, plays and prose from diverse authors over time, taking them on a chronological journey through English literature and covering core concepts - such as themes and perspectives – as well as encouraging reading for pleasure through engagement with our College library. It also aims to inspire creativity in pupils’ own writing and support them to build cohesive, arguments for a range of non-fiction topics that engage them with the wider world.
