St Bede's and St Joseph's Governors

 “Governors are jointly responsible for the conduct of the school, ensuring that the best possible Catholic education is provided for the pupils attending the school. This means ensuring the school is run according to its Articles of Association and the Diocesan Trust Deed, that its religious character is preserved and developed, and that pupils obtain high standards of academic achievement.”

The governors work is divided into four sub-committees;

  • Learning Divisions
  • Finance, Buildings and Staffing
  • House and Inclusion
  • Staff Complaints, Grievances and Discipline, Student Discipline and Appeals

Overall the governors are responsible for: 

  • The Catholic life of the college
  • Setting the strategic direction, policies and objectives of the College
  • Approving the budget
  • Reviewing progress against the budget and objectives
  • Challenging and supporting senior staff
  • Recruiting staff
  • The use of public funds
  • The quality of education provided
  • The wider contribution to the community
