Subject Intent
At SBSJ, we believe every child has the right to music education, which connects us to a deeper part of ourselves. Our integrated KS3 music curriculum develops students' skills in performance, composition, listening, and appraisal, treating all as musicians regardless of background. By the end of KS3, students gain the confidence and skills to progress to KS4 or engage meaningfully with music in daily life.
We promote the Arts as vital social, cultural, and educational tools, inspiring curiosity and lifelong passion for music. Through Cultural and Historical Studies, Keyboard Skills, Theory, Composition, and Ensemble Performance, we raise awareness of our multicultural world and encourage global citizenship.
Our sequenced curriculum aligns with GCSE and A-level objectives, ensuring a rich understanding of music. We aim to nurture confident performers and public speakers, equipping students with lifelong skills to succeed and shine.
