Gabrieli ROAR Concert
On Friday and Saturday, pupils from SBSJ who are members of Bradford Catholic Youth Choir participated in two days of workshops and a concert with the internationally-renowned Gabrieli Consort and Players as part of Gabrieli ROAR.
Prepared by Bradford Choral Directors Adam Whitmore and Craig Perkinton, who work with the BCYC Boys and Girls Choirs every week at SBSJ, they learnt music by the Baroque composers Monteverdi and Vivaldi. They joined over 150 singers from across the Diocese's choirs, to sing alongside the Gabrieli's professional singers and orchestra. They enjoyed expert coaching from Gabrieli's vocal coaches and the concert - to a full audience in Leeds Cathedral - was directed by Gabrieli's Musical Director, Paul McCreesh.
It was a great project - expanding horizons, creating new friendships and showing what's possible with resilience, commitment and hard work, all coming out of the foundations of the Schools Singing Programme. We are so proud of all the young people involved.
