London Theatre Tour 2026

From Wednesday 3rd June to Friday 5th June 2026, 45 SBSJ staff and students travelled to London for an unforgettable Theatre Tour and what an incredible trip it was!

Students were fully immersed in the world of professional theatre, gaining a real insight into the creativity, energy and dedication behind the performing arts industry. They took part in an exciting acting workshop, developed their performance skills, and experienced the buzz of London’s vibrant cultural scene.

Across the three days, students explored some of the capital’s most iconic locations, including Borough Market, Buckingham Palace, Covent Garden, Shakespeare’s Globe and the Science Museum. From discovering historic theatre spaces to soaking up the atmosphere of London’s famous landmarks, every moment offered something inspiring, educational and memorable.

It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn beyond the classroom, build confidence, share new experiences and create lasting memories together. What a trip, what a week and what an amazing celebration of theatre, culture and creativity! Read the recap written by Annie in Year 10:

Wednesday 3rd June 2026

We left SBSJ early in the morning and travelled by coach to London. Even though everyone was tired, there was a lot of excitement on the journey down. We arrived in London at and dropped our luggage off at St Christopher’s Inn, London Bridge. After arriving, we dropped off our luggage and went to Borough Market for lunch. There were lots of food choices and it was a fun place to explore.

Later, we walked to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre before travelling to Danceworks Studios for a Stage Combat Workshop with a professional artist I really enjoyed this because we learned how stage fighting is performed safely and realistically. We also were fortunate enough to participate in a Q and A with the leading actress of Mamma Mia.

In the evening, we travelled to Covent Garden and had dinner at Ave Mario. The restaurant had a fun atmosphere and it was nice to sit down after such a busy afternoon. We then went to Theatre Royal Drury Lane to watch Hercules. The performance was exciting, colourful, and full of energy. It was a long but brilliant first day.

Thursday 4th June 2026

We started the day with breakfast, then travelled to Green Park and walked to Buckingham Palace. It was great to see such a famous London landmark.

After that, we visited the Natural History Museum and had time to explore the exhibitions. Then we travelled to Covent Gardens for lunch. In the afternoon, we watched a matinee performance of Mamma Mia! at the Novello Theatre. The show was lively, fun, and the music made it really enjoyable.

In the evening, we walked through Leicester Square and went to Hard Rock Café for dinner before an evening walk along the river Thames and returning to the accommodation. This was another busy but memorable day.

Friday 5th June 2026

On the final day, we had breakfast, packed our belongings, and headed to Madame Tussauds, which was a fun way to end the trip because there were lots of photo opportunities.

Afterwards, we got back on the coach and returned to SBSJ. Overall, the trip was exciting, fun and enjoyable. My favourite parts were the combat workshop and the West End shows, as they helped me learn more about performing arts in a professional setting. Being in London was amazing and having the opportunity to explore some incredible landmarks, watch professional theatre and participate in workshops was just amazing.
