Victory for U14 and U18 Water Polo Teams

Bolton V SBSJ

U14 Team

Monday 23rd January saw the under 14 Water Polo team travel to Bolton School to play a mixture of under 13’s and a few under 15’s.

The match was an hour long with Bolton switching between an U13 ‘A’ team and an U13 ‘B’ team mixed with some of his U15’s every 10 minutes. This was a good experience for our team playing a mixture of ages and sizes along with a wide range of talent/experience which we all feel we learnt a lot from. After adding all the goals up over the hour played the final score ended 16 – 13 to St Bede’s and St Joseph’s CC.

Final Score SBSJ16 – 13  Bolton

As the score line suggests it was a close match with both teams dominating in certain times in the game. One noticeable point was that overall we had 40 shots to Bolton’s 27, so it was really pleasing how well we attacked as a team and kept the pressure throughout but equally disappointing we didn’t convert more of our chances (two of the misses were penalties!). Lots to think about and work on in training moving forward. Overall a good experience and win to match.  Well done to all involved!

Bradford Grammar V SBSJ

U18 team

Wednesday 18th January 2017 saw the U18 Water Polo team travel to Bradford Grammar School in a preparatory match in the build up to our upcoming English Schools Plate Semi Final.

Final Score SBSJ12 – 4  BGS
Man of the Match – Jack Sheehan 12G

As you can see from the result above it was a good afternoon for our U18’s. The three standout players were Daniel Colehan 12I and Darwin King 9B who both got hat-trick as well as ‘man of the match’ Jack Sheehan 12G who scored the other 6 goals. However it must be said that is was a really good team performance and the most pleasing thing was how well we defended as a group which then gave us the platform to go on the attack.
