Winter Games

Year 9 winners

On Friday 17th February we visited Hanson academy who played host to the Bradford Winter Games. There were many dignitaries including guest speakers Jamie Peacock MBE former Bradford Bulls and Great Britain captain   There were over a thousand students from primary, secondary and special schools across the district. The students competed in a number of different sports, each gunning to be crowned the Bradford champion and to secure a place at the West Yorkshire finals next month

Y7 netball

Our Y9 Basketball team claimed a victory. The team had qualified from a previous competition held in the autumn. The teams produced a brilliant morning of basketball. The Bradford Dragon’s players were very impressed with Jabari Edwards who was not only MVP but has been outstanding throughout this whole tournament.

This was the first time at the games for our Y7 girls netball team. They played strong in defence and although losing 3 out of 4 games they agreed they had learned valuable lessons and could go away and build on their experience.

It was a similar story for our U16’s basketball team. They won  their first game against Thornton 17-3, but lost their next match against Beckfoot 12-10. It was very close with some intense play throughout. Going into the last game against Buttershaw the team was a little deflated and lost 17-7, coming third overall.
