At St Bede’s and St Joseph’s Catholic College, we aim to develop our students into well-rounded citizens: kind, generous and thoughtful contributors, as well as active, lively participants and future leaders. We aim to teach our students to excel in their academic studies, while at the same time, guiding them to make a contribution to the school community and to participate fully in the many co-curricular opportunities on offer. These three strands of school life – the academic, the spiritual community and the co-curricular – form part of the Year 7 Christus Lumen Gentium Diploma, known as Ecclesia (the Church), Scholastica (the learner) and Olympia (the active participant). The Year 7 Diploma also includes external assessments accredited by the English Public Speaking Board, Trinity London Arts Award and the Young Leaders Award which all Year 7 students have been completing as part of their English, Performing Arts and PE lessons this year.
On Tuesday 18th July we will be celebrating the effort, progress and success of our Year 7 students in all aspects of the Christus Lumen Gentium Diploma in an awards evening. We are very proud of what our Year 7s have accomplished during the year, and all students will receive the Christus Lumen Gentium Diploma Certificate in recognition of their effort and hard work. As well as these certificates, we will be awarding medals and trophies to those students who have excelled in one of the three areas of school life. These special awards are listed on the reverse of this letter, with the criteria for awarding each one explained alongside. The schedule for the evening includes a showcase of some of our very best student talent to entertain the audience as well. All students are expected to attend this celebration and each will be presented individually with their Christus Lumen Gentium Diploma Certificate and their special award, if they have won them.
