It has been a wonderful autumn so far and we have been lucky to enjoy it with our lovely year 7s at Cartwright Hall, who have proved fine ambassadors for the school. Once there we enjoyed artist-led workshops on Hockney's work and ran our own workshops on decoding and deconstructing paintings. Creative talent abounded leading to some excellent writing, sketches and illuminating discussion about narratives in art. Students have learned how to develop their own interpretations and have discovered that art is relevant to them and just as much theirs as anybody else's. We hope that as part of this venture students will now feel more confident to visit future exhibitions that the park has to offer on their own.
