Yr10/Yr12 Lourdes Pilgrimage 2019

IMG_7085.JPG

For many years, students from Yr10 and St Benedict’s Sixth Form have played a full and active part in the Leeds Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes and have been a credit to our school and their families.  We are now inviting you to consider your daughter / son joining the Lourdes Pilgrimage in July 2019. The Pilgrimage is open to students who are in Yr10/12.

The students will be part of the Youth Section of the Pilgrimage, travelling at a cheaper rate than the other pilgrims.  Students are essential during the Pilgrimage as they work as Young Carers, working with the sickest of the Lourdes Pilgrims who would otherwise be confined to the hospital without their care.  As well as helping the sick, our students will take part in the various liturgies and are very much involved in all aspects of the Pilgrimage.  There are also opportunities to visit places associated with St Bernadette and to take part in the usual Lourdes devotions and prayers.  The work can be difficult and tiring but the time spent in Lourdes is very rewarding, spiritually beneficial and extremely enjoyable.

Pilgrimage dates:             Thursday 4 July 2019 to Friday 12 July 2019

Pilgrimage cost:                £600

The fare includes:

Return travel by either coach to Dover - ferry to France and travel overnight to Lourdes
Full board in Lourdes in a Lourdes Hotel
Packed meal on return journey / Insurance / Pilgrimage booklet
                Youth Section sweatshirt and T-shirt

When signing up to this pilgrimage, students should be aware that they will be expected to take part in a programme of fundraising activities throughout the coming year. Once the names are in for Lourdes, the group will start fundraising to help to cover the pilgrimage costs.

If you would like your daughter / son to go to Lourdes in July 2019, please complete the above forms and return to school as soon as possible.
