Off to a flying start!

Year 7 First Game.JPG

Last week the year 7 team played their first fixture together in the West Yorkshire Cup first round away at Batley Grammar School.

Match report from Josef Krywyszyn Yr7

Batley Grammar School   0  -  6  SBSJ

Last Thursday, the year 7 football team played their first game. We were playing a cup game away in Batley and straight from the start, we played well. We began the first half by scoring a couple of amazing goals. Throughout that half, we worked hard and played very well as the other team were a decent side. The first half ended 3 – 0 to SBSJ and we got ready for the second half.

Once again, SBSJ were on top and were scoring even more goals! We ended the game with a 6 – 0 victory with Joe Krywyszyn scoring 1, Marquez Kumwenda scoring 1, Theo Parke scoring 1, Theo Eloi scoring 2 and Ashton Peltier scoring 1. Theo Parke, who played extremely well, was given man of the match for his performance. This was a good first match for the SBSJ team.

Manager's Thoughts:

All in all, it was an extremely dominant display. Our attacking prowess was on show in the early stages taking an early lead. Batley could not handle the running power of Ashton Peltier from the wide right position and Theo Parke conducted everything from the centre of midfield. A bit of work needs to be done with our defensive shape, in particular our starting positions from dead ball situations, but the back three persisted throughout and were able to keep a well deserved clean sheet. We have some undoubted talent in the squad and I am hopeful for a decent cup run this year with these lads.
