On House Day 1, as part of our Olympia offer, I organised the first SBSJ’s Got Talent which was won by Lucy Pearson Y10 at Ardor and Lilly Pryce, Y8 at Ignis. Both girls fought off stiff competition from other students to win at each site; Lucy is a superb singer and Lilly a talented gymnast. So, on 15th February, when the rest of the school were enjoying the first night of the Half term holidays, Lucy and Lilly were hard at work representing SBSJ at the Semi-Final of Bradford Festival of Talent.
Bradford Festival of Talent is held annually and is keenly contested across the city; all of the District’s Primary and Secondary schools are eligible to compete. The event this year was held at The Bradford Hotel in their Brontë Function Room which has a capacity for 400 people. The Primary schools competed first and there was a huge range of acts including Puppetry, Singing, Dance and Stand-up comedians with students as young as four onstage.
Standards in the secondary school category were incredibly high. Lucy followed impressive performances from One in a Million and Bradford Academy but blew the crowd away with her rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables.
Lucy and Lilly beat off stiff competition to gain their places in the final that will be held on the 22nd March 2019 at The Bradford Hotel, Hall Ings
