In April the Onna Ju-Jitsu Club conducted a grading with over 300 students. 18 students ranging from years 7 to 12 from St Bede’s and St Joseph’s graded for their white, orange, blue and white, purple, brown and white and brown belts. The excitement was electric! All the students were an absolute credit to both the club and to the school. They worked with commitment and dedication to achieve this success and I am really proud of them all.
I would just like to share a few of my very proud moments:
Firstly, making it an even more special grading was the fact that Zaynah Arooj and Thomas Knowles who have completed training up to and including their Brown belt, will now be training hard for a year to get their Black belt. As a school based club they will be the first 2 students to get their black belts, which, again shows their commitment, hard work and dedication. All the best to them both for their GCSE exams and training over the coming year.
Secondly, Mishel Rehan, was nominated and received an award for her fantastic attitude, commitment and helpful nature throughout the training sessions. A thoroughly deserved trophy for a very deserving student – well done to Mishel.
Finally (but not the least), our very own Jo Pleasance and Shabana Shazad graded for their white belts. Again as a school based club they were the first ‘Teacher’ students to go through. So a massive congratulations to them both.
