Cheque presented to Bishop Marcus Stock

On Friday 24th May, we were fortunate enough to be chosen to represent the College at Leeds Cathedral and present the funds raised for the Good Shepherd Appeal to Bishop Marcus Stock. We were chosen because our form raised the most money for this appeal. All together the school raised over £2000. Bishop Marcus was astounded by this amount and said how much it would help. He appreciated all our efforts.

When we got to the Cathedral, we took our place in the procession with our Collage banner. We felt very tall as it was mainly primary schools there, but it was an honour to take part in this. Navjot and Hassan participated in the procession which went around the entire Cathedral. We then took part in a beautiful service led by Holy Family and St Joseph’s Pontefract. The children did readings, sang songs and performed the actions. They also did an art jigsaw which showed qualities of a Good Shepherd.

Each school was then invited up individually to meet Bishop Marcus. Sigrid and Manaal went up to meet Bishop Marcus on behalf of our school. He talked to us about how we raised the money and laughed at the thought of teachers being sponged. Both Bishop Marcus and the representative from Catholic Care were thoroughly impressed with SBSJ’s efforts.

We hope to continue with our efforts next year and raise even more!
