U13 City of Sheffield Water Polo Club Festival

Sunday 14th July saw the U13 Water Polo take part in the City of Sheffield Water Polo Club Festival.

The tournament was made up of 12 teams with SBSJ playing a total of 10 matches from 9:30am-5:30pm. It was a very well run tournament with some really strong Water Polo clubs involved. We were the only school team to be there and we played some fantastic Water Polo at times. In the end we finished 5th place, something we are really proud of considering it was a club tournament and with only having a small squad due to players being unavailable. A brilliant experience for our students and another positive to come from the day is some of our girls have been invited to attend the North East regional tryouts!

U18 Yorkshire Schools Champions for 2nd Year Running!

Saturday 11th May 2019 was the U18 Yorkshire Schools Water Polo Championships held at St Peter's, York. This is the second year of the competitions existence.

The Squad

In 2018 we were crowned champions and I am happy to say we were once again the winners of the competition. Unfortunately Bradford Grammar School did not field a team so it was just the three schools this year meaning it was only played over one leg.

Both St Peter's and Ampleforth have improved massively from last year and we had to work hard for the victories. In truth we started off slow in both matches but we can be happy with our overall performance on the day, scoring some really good goals and for being defensively solid throughout.

Results

SBSJ   4 - 0   Ampleforth
SBSJ   4 - 0   St Peter's
